File Upload

The file upload field lets respondents attach files to their submission — documents, images, PDFs, or whatever you need to collect.

Adding a file upload field

  • Click the + button between blocks, or
  • Type /file or /upload and select File upload from the list

Settings

  • Required — make file upload mandatory
  • Allowed file types — restrict which file types can be uploaded (e.g., only images, only PDFs)
  • Maximum files — how many files a respondent can upload per field (1 to 10)
  • Maximum file size (MB) — the maximum size per file, up to 10 MB

How it works for respondents

Respondents see a file picker where they can select files from their device. Files upload in the background with a progress indicator, so they can keep filling out the rest of the form while files transfer.

If a file doesn’t meet your restrictions (wrong type, too large, too many), they’ll see a clear error message explaining what’s wrong.

Viewing uploaded files

In the Responses tab, file uploads appear as downloadable links. You can download each file individually.

Tips

  • Set file type restrictions to avoid receiving unexpected formats
  • If you’re collecting images specifically, restrict to image types to keep things clean
  • Keep the max file size reasonable for your use case — 10 MB is the hard limit per file
