Get Started with FormGrid
Welcome to FormGrid! 👋 This guide will walk you through everything you need to go from a blank page to a ready-to-use form.
Create your first form
Option 1: Let AI handle the first draft
Click Create form and describe the form you need: What is it for? What should it look like? For example:
- “A wedding RSVP form with a soft, romantic look”
- “A customer feedback form for a productivity app, with a modern and energetic feel”
- “A job application form for a barista at a cozy cafe”
FormGrid will generate a full form in seconds — questions, layout, design, and a cover image. From there, you can easily fine-tune anything you want.
Option 2: Build it yourself
Prefer to build your form yourself from scratch? Open a blank canvas and start adding content. We’ll walk you through how the editor works below.
Customize your form
Content
The editor works just like a doc — click anywhere and simply start typing.
Type / (or click + in an empty line) to add questions, text, headings, or images. You can also filter your options by adding a specific search term, for example, type /short and press Enter to add a short text question.
Question settings
Each question type has its own set of settings you can customize. Click on the ⋮ icon next to the question block if you want to:
- Set the question as required
- Limit the number of characters for short and long text questions
- Allow multiple selections for multiple choice questions
- Change the star count for rating questions
- Change number ranges and labels for linear scale questions

Formatting
To format any text in your form, select it and pick the styling you want.

Layout
You’re building your form on a flexible grid. To change the layout, simply drag the blocks around. Stack them or place them side by side — you have full control over the structure.
Design
Open the Design panel to give your form a unique visual style — you can customize everything, including fonts, colors, buttons, spacing, shadows, and more.

Cover image
You can add a cover image to the top of your form to help set the tone. Open the Design panel and select Upload (to use your own image) or Generate (to generate a new image).
There are two ways to generate a cover image:
- Let FormGrid generate an image automatically based on the content of your form, or
- Write a prompt and describe the kind of image you want
Ask AI for anything
The built-in AI assistant can help you at any point. Simply open the AI panel and ask it to:
- Add questions (e.g. “Add a required email field at the end”)
- Create a new cover image (e.g. “Create a new cover image that fits the topic of the form”)
- Change the theme (e.g. “Make the form look minimalist and clean”)
- Change the content (e.g. “Rewrite the questions to sound more friendly”)
- Change the layout (e.g. “Make the form wider and use a two-column layout”)
- Match elements (e.g. “Make the theme colors match the cover image”)
… and much more!
Publish and share
Click Preview to see what your form looks like to others. Make sure everything works and feels right. When you’re ready, hit Publish and Share to get a link that can be shared or embedded.
Your form stays editable after publishing — just publish it again after making changes.
View results
Once people start filling out your form, you’ll see responses appear in the Results section. You can review the entries in FormGrid or export the data for further analysis.
