Publishing Overview

Publishing makes your form available to respondents. Here’s how the process works.

The publishing flow

  1. Build your form in the editor
  2. Preview it to make sure everything looks right
  3. Click Publish in the editor toolbar to make it live. After your first publish, you’ll be taken to the Share step where you can copy your form link
  4. Share the link and start collecting responses

Your form needs at least one visible field before you can publish it. Hidden fields on their own don’t count, since respondents have nothing to fill in.

Unpublished changes

After your initial publish, any edits you make in the editor aren’t visible to respondents until you publish again. When there are unpublished changes, a Publish changes button appears in the editor toolbar. Click it whenever you’re ready to push updates live.

Where your form lives

Once published, the Share, Results, and Connect tabs appear in the editor. The Share tab has your shareable link and embed link. You can also embed forms on your own website or use link settings to customize your link preview, favicon, and how your form appears when shared on social media.

By default your form lives on a FormGrid link. On paid plans you can publish it on a domain you own instead.

What happens when you publish

  • Your form goes live at its URL
  • Respondents can access it and submit responses
  • Any previously published version is replaced with the latest
