Link Settings

Link settings let you control how your form link appears in browser tabs and as a link preview when shared on social media or messaging apps. You can set a custom preview image, title, description, site name, and browser tab icon (favicon).

After publishing your form, go to the Share tab. You’ll see a callout with a link settings link — click it to open the link settings dialog.

Preview image

The preview image is the image shown in link previews when someone shares your form on social media, Slack, iMessage, or other messaging apps. This is sometimes called the Open Graph image or social media preview image.

  • Recommended size: 1200×630 pixels or larger
  • If you don’t set a custom preview image, your form’s cover image is used instead. If there’s no cover image either, a default FormGrid image is used.

To set a preview image, click the image area in the link settings dialog and upload an image. You can crop it to the right aspect ratio before saving.

Title and description

The Title and Description fields control the text shown in link previews alongside the preview image.

  • Title defaults to your form’s title
  • Description defaults to “Made with FormGrid”

Both are optional — if you leave them empty, the defaults are used.

Advanced settings

Advanced settings give you additional control over your form’s branding in browser tabs and link previews.

Site name

The Site name appears in link previews as the source of the link (e.g., where it says “FormGrid” by default). Set it to your own brand or organization name.

Browser tab icon

The Browser tab icon is the favicon — the small icon shown in the browser tab next to the page title. Upload a square image, 32×32 pixels or larger, to replace the default FormGrid icon with your own.

You can configure all settings on any plan, but they only take effect on the published form with the required plan.

Tips

  • Social media platforms often cache link previews. If you update your settings and the old preview still appears, try using a tool like the Facebook Sharing Debugger or Twitter Card Validator to refresh the cache
  • Your cover image doubles as the default link preview image — if you already have a good cover image, you may not need to set a separate preview image
  • Keep your title short and your description under a couple of sentences for the best appearance across different platforms
