Multiple Choice

The multiple choice field lets respondents pick from a list of options. You can set it up for single selection (pick one) or multiple selection (pick as many as you want).

Adding a multiple choice field

  • Click the + button between blocks, or
  • Type /multiple and select Multiple choice from the list

Adding and editing options

Once the field is in your form, you can:

  • Click on any option to edit its text
  • Press Enter to add a new option below
  • Drag options to reorder them
  • Delete options you don’t need

Settings

Click the drag handle to open settings:

  • Required — respondents must select at least one option
  • Multiple selections — let people choose more than one option (turns radio buttons into checkboxes)
  • Other — adds a free-text “Other” option so respondents can write in their own answer
  • Randomize — shuffle the order of options for each respondent to reduce order bias

Single vs. multiple selection

  • Single selection (default) — respondents pick exactly one option. In the published form, selecting an option on a single-select field will automatically advance to the next page
  • Multiple selection — respondents can check as many options as they like

Tips

  • Keep option lists manageable — if you have more than 10-12 options, consider breaking them into categories or using a different field type
  • Use the “Other” option when you’re not 100% sure you’ve covered every possibility
  • Option order can influence responses — put the most common choices first, or randomize if you want unbiased results
