Linear Scale

The linear scale field presents a numeric range with labeled endpoints. It’s the go-to field for NPS scores, satisfaction ratings, agreement scales, and anything where you need a number on a spectrum.

Adding a linear scale field

  • Click the + button between blocks, or
  • Type /linear or /scale and select Linear scale from the list

Settings

  • Required — make the selection mandatory
  • Range (from) — the lowest number on the scale
  • Range (to) — the highest number on the scale
  • Label (left) — text displayed at the low end (e.g., “Not at all likely”)
  • Label (right) — text displayed at the high end (e.g., “Extremely likely”)

The scale range supports values from -999 to 999, so you’ve got plenty of room.

Classic use cases

  • NPS (Net Promoter Score) — 0 to 10, “Not at all likely” to “Extremely likely”
  • Agreement scale — 1 to 5, “Strongly disagree” to “Strongly agree”
  • Satisfaction — 1 to 7, “Very unsatisfied” to “Very satisfied”

Linear scale vs. rating

Both measure something on a scale, but:

  • Rating shows stars — it’s more visual and intuitive for quick feedback
  • Linear scale shows numbers with labels — it’s better when the endpoints matter or when you need a wider range

In the responses dashboard

Linear scale responses appear as a histogram, with your endpoint labels displayed. Easy to spot where people cluster on the spectrum.
